Former Hearst Media advertising director will head up the gay social network’s global sales team
Hornet, the world’s premier gay social network, today announced that veteran LGBTQ advertising and sales expert Matthew Smith will join the brand’s growing executive team as senior vice president of global sales. Smith will drive the overall advertising revenue strategy and execution. He will work closely with Hornet President, Sean Howell, in developing a comprehensive global marketing strategy incorporating various languages, regions, platforms, clients and needed sales solutions.

Smith will now lead a team of sales executives to create and execute advertising and marketing programs for current and future Hornet partners seeking innovative digital solutions to reach a targeted demographic.
Smith brings to Hornet vast experience working with high-profile consumer brands and extensive cross-platform content expertise. He has held sales and executive leadership positions with both legacy and startup publishing powerhouses such as OUT, WIRED, Fast Company and, most recently, with Dr. Oz THE GOOD LIFE at Hearst. Throughout his career, Smith has spearheaded many firsts within the media publishing industry, including helping lead Mercedes-Benz USA’s first LGBTQ-targeted campaign, “When You Know, You Know.”
